The Manager, Regulatory Counsel is responsible for supervising the Regulatory Compliance team for the FirstComp Division of the Markel Corporation. Reporting to the Managing Director, the Manager will provide legal advice and services in connection with the conduct of the Companyâs business to minimize legal exposure and assist in achieving business objectives. The Manager will partner with colleagues across Markel and outside service providers to ensure functional and strategic goals are achieved while maintaining compliance with applicable legal and regula! tory requirements. This position will mentor, coach, train and! develop all direct reports. The Manager, Regulatory Counsel will also be responsible for managing and multi-tasking a variety of projects including but not limited to: tracking new/proposed legal and regulatory developments to give appropriate responses to mitigate impact on business or take advantage of opportunities, draft and negotiate contracts, provide advice on agreements and arrangements with producers and reinsures, and a variety of projects as assigned. This position must be able to effectively communicate and collaborate with all levels of management as well as several other departments within the company on a daily basis.

Licensed Attorney
2+ years insurance experience required
Prior supervisory experience preferred
Ability to analyze and effectively execute on complex investigations
Professional written and oral communication skills
Sense of! urgency and ability to prioritize conflicting responsibilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
