Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide legal support for Hasbro’s global marketing, sales, and product development groups related to the Hasbro Gaming line segment, including the Family/Adult Games and Boys Games lines.
- Counsel clients on a broad range of legal issues, including intellectual property, licensing, marketing, advertising, promotions, digital rights, and contract interpretation. Facilitate internal policy creation and implementation. Provide client education and training on relevant legal issues.
- Have primary responsibility for promotional matters (including sweepstakes) affecting the Hasbro Gaming line segment, as well as broader promotions affecting a wide range of Hasbro product lines.
- Work directly with, and communicate legal issues succinctly to, senior executives, and anticipate follow-up needs. Work with key clients to proactively identify and further business ! strategies in transactions.
- Draft and negotiate a var! iety of agreements, including in-licenses, consulting and development agreements, marketing and promotions agreements, permissions, distribution agreements, and work for hire agreements.
- Review and advise on product packaging, advertising and marketing materials, including television commercials, digital media campaigns, contests, sweepstakes, and other promotions.
- Oversee and maintain Hasbro’s record retention program, ensuring the prompt destruction of documents and other records that have reached the specified retention period, and implementing appropriate retention periods for different types of documents.
- J.D. from an ABA accredited law school, excellent academic credentials, state bar membership in good standing.
- 3-7 years of in-house experience working with consumer products or marketing/promotions and sweepstakes.
- Expertise in ne! gotiating and drafting a variety of business agreements.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
- Strong client relations skills, business sense, and the ability to make practical evaluations of risk.
- Understanding of intellectual property, especially copyright, trademark, and trade secret laws, as well as marketing and promotional law.
- Ability to work effectively with team members from different disciplines and to interact well with members of senior management.
- Flexibility and willingness to independently navigate areas of unfamiliarity.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize substantial and diverse workload and complete tasks within deadlines.
- Comfort with a collaborative and creative environment is essential.
- Experience with licensing and/or promotional agreements preferred.
