Hasbro is seeking Mr. Potato Head’s next attorney! We are looking for a self-described “techie†attorney with 3-4 years of experience who would like to work in a collegial environment for a branded play company that makes toys and games rather than widgets. This cross-functional position supports Hasbro’s digital media and technology groups and also serves as the primary attorney for several of our! toy and game brands. The successful candidate will possess th! e following qualities: superior analytical and people skills, business sense, a talent for creative problem solving, strong negotiating ability, a commitment to teamwork, and a sense of humor.
JOB DUTIES
- Provide legal support for Hasbro’s global marketing, sales, product design and development, app/software development, concept acquisition and creative services groups.
- Counsel clients on a broad range of legal issues, including intellectual property, licensing, marketing, advertising, promotions, digital rights, social media, privacy, regulatory and compliance matters, contract interpretation.
- Negotiate and draft a variety of contracts, including in-licenses with inventors and entertainment companies, software and technology licenses and development agreements, marketing and promotions agreements, permissions, and various agreements involving the development of and support services for mobile apps and standalone websites. !
- Review and advise on toy, game, and digital product development, product packaging, and all manner of advertising and marketing materials, including television commercials, print ads, digital media campaigns, contests, sweepstakes and other promotions.
- Coordinate with internal legal and non-legal resources as necessary to address legal and business issues; manage external legal resources.
- Work directly with and communicate legal issues succinctly to senior executives, and anticipate follow-up needs.
- Partner with clients to proactively identify and further business strategies in transactions.
- Provide client education and training on relevant legal issues.
Education and Training Required:
- J.D. from accredited law school, excellent academic credentials. Bar membership in good
- 3-4 years relevant experience in law firm and/or in-house law departme! nt
- Experience negotiating an! d drafting a variety of business agreements.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills and people skills.
- Ability to make practical evaluations of risk.
- Understanding of intellectual property, especially copyright and trademark laws and issues.
- Experience negotiating and drafting software and hardware development contracts.
- Ability to work effectively with team members from different disciplines and to interact well with members of senior management.
- Flexibility and willingness to learn and independently navigate areas of unfamiliarity.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize substantial and diverse workload and complete tasks within deadlines.
- Comfort with a collaborative and creative environment is essential.
