Shechtman Halperin Savage, LLP has an opening for a Paralegal in our Litigation department. The paralegal will a ssist Attorneys and other Paralegals in the Litigation Department with the maintenance and day-to-day handling of assigned matters. Primary responsibilities and qualifications are listed below. Interested candidates should submit their resume and cover letter.
Primary Responsibilities include:
1. E-filing documents in Federal Court cases, and in filing documents in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Hampshire Superior and Supreme Courts;
2. Docketing, calendaring, tracking, and maintaining appointments, tasks, deadlines, events, and to/dos on all assigned litigation matters;
3. Drafting, filing, and serving motions, demand letters, objections, complaints! , summonses, deposition notices, answers, stipulations, orders! , notices, subpoenas and discovery;
4. Meeting required billable hours goal;
5. Updating clients and client websites;
6. File management, maintenance, and organization, both in electronic and paper format; and
7. All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must have at least 1-3 years experience as a Litigation Paralegal in a law firm, with Business Litigation experience a plus;
- Experience with recording, tracking, and meeting billable hour requirements;
- Experience with RI and MA Superior Court filing procedures, and Federal Court E-filing procedure;
- Strong communication, proof reading, and organizational skills;
- Advance use of Microsoft Office to include Word, Outlook, and Basic Excel;
- Ability to multitask, work independently, and be a team player;
