Description
Hasbro has an exciting opportunity for an attorney with 3-7 years of experience to support our preschool toy and game brands as well as our digital media and technology groups. This is a cross-functional position that will include negotiating and drafting a variety of product and intellectual property-related contracts (e.g., consulting agreements, inventor and character licenses, promotion agreements, software and technology licensing and development agreements, etc.); providing day-to-day legal counseling to marketing, design and development, digital media, concept acquisition and creative services personnel; reviewing and approving products, packaging and advertising; and responding or assisting in the response to inquiries from third parties. You will meet regularly with the business and product leaders and serve as the primary legal contact for several internal clients. Candidates should be execution oriented, have s! trong business acumen, and have superior analytical and commun! ication skills. Creative problem solving is a must.
JOB DUTIES
Provide legal support for Hasbro’s global marketing, sales, product development and creative services groups.
Counsel clients on a broad range of legal issues, including intellectual property, licensing, marketing, advertising, promotions, digital rights, privacy, regulatory and compliance matters, contract interpretation, and facilitate internal policy creation and implementation
Work directly with and communicate legal issues succinctly to senior executives, and anticipate follow-up needs
Partner with key clients to proactively identify and further business strategies in transactions
Draft and negotiate a variety of agreements, including in-licenses, software and technology licensing and development agreements, marketing and promotions agreements, permissions, distribution agreements and work for hire agreements
Review and advise on product packa! ging, advertising and marketing materials, including television commercials, digital media campaigns, contests, sweepstakes and other promotions
Negotiate and draft agreements in connection with the development of and support services for mobile apps and standalone websites
Coordinate with internal legal and non-legal resources as necessary to address legal and business issues; manage external legal resources
Provide client education and training on relevant legal issues
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Training Required:
J.D. from accredited law school, excellent academic credentials, Bar membership in good standing
3-7 years of in-house experience with Technology and Marketing
Critical Skills:
Expertise in negotiating and drafting a variety of business agreements
Outstanding oral and written communication skills
Strong client relations skills, business sense, and the ability! to make practical evaluations of risk
Understanding of intell! ectual property, especially copyright, trademark, and trade secret laws and issues
Ability to work effectively with team members from different disciplines and to interact well with members of senior management
Flexibility and willingness to independently navigate areas of unfamiliarity
Demonstrated ability to prioritize substantial and diverse workload and complete tasks within deadlines
Comfort with a collaborative and creative environment is essential
Experience with software and hardware technology development and licensing agreements
