Description : Psychotherapist Acute Care Description: As part of a clinical research treatment trial, be respo! nsible for delivering a manualized family and individual based treatment program that incorporates mental health, substance use and HIV prevention intervention for juveniles seen through the Mental Health Clinic at the Rhode Island Family Court. Specific job responsibilities include: meeting with families and/or juveniles for therapy sessions, performing clinical mental health assessments and providing brief reports for the court (as needed), participating in team and individual supervision meetings, attending research lab trainings and meetings, and coordinating with clinic case managers and other court professionals, including judges and magistrates, regarding cases. Experience: Experience with children, adolescents and families required. Knowledge and experience in a forensic mental health setting and clinical experience with court-involved youth (ages 12-18) affected by juvenile justice issues highly desirable. Experience with cognitive-behavioral and other evidence-bas! ed mental health interventions preferred.
Qualification! s : Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Psychology or related field. Pursue independent licensure when eligible. Specialized training and education in group therapy is required. Able to provide analytic and therapy skills necessary to evaluate group dynamics, individual patient needs, develop treatment plans, initiate therapy, and evaluates results. Able to effectively interact with patients, families, medical staff and outside agencies in providing services. Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process. EXPERIENCE: Minimum one year experience working with patients diagnosed with a major mental illness including group and individual therapy.
