Strategic Investment Products and Data, or SIPD, manages and supports Guidance and Planning tools, Managed Accounts offerings, and Integrated Customer Data Solutions across the Professional Services Group (PSG), Personal Investments (PI), and Workplace Investments (WI). The SIPD team comprises more than 400 technologists based in Smithfield, Boston, Merrimack, Raleigh, Westlake, India, and China.
We currently have an opportunity in the Customer Warehouse Environment (CWE) organization for an experienced data analyst in our Smithfield Rhode Island office. This role executes analysis for small to mid-sized projects and partners on larger projects. This role also analyzes existing systems and recommends data solutions for achieving requirements. This role creates data models and database specifications through the understanding of business needs and rules.
Primary Responsibilities:
Interviews business partners to understand project objectives, use cases and information requirements
Recommends solutions to project data issues
Participates in requirements sessions
Documenting and presenting the results of researching, investigating, synthesizing, and analyzing business processes
Documents objectives, use cases, information requirements and data specifications
Describes solutions to achieve information requirements
Uses components of the enterprise data model
Creates simple or small logical data models, including metadata and business rules, covering a subject area
Acts as model author in own model reviews
Researches to identify effective data designs, data problems and drives out solutions
Reviews existing data designs to judge their capability, effectiveness, reliability, performance, usage, maintainability model author in own model reviews
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree
3-5 years experience working as a systems, business, or data analyst
Experience with formal software development methodologies
Experience with Data Modeling software and basic ERD modeling
Experience with SQL required
Skills and Knowledge:
Modeling skills to create data flow diagrams, process swim lane diagrams, logical data models, and translate business needs into stories and use cases
Interviewing and facilitation skills to lead discussions with business and technology teams
Ability to frame a problem in a manner that helps others to understand and take action
Administrative skillls to track current and future requests; ability to separate future work from present work
Written skills to describe business processes, explain business requirements, and logically tell the story of how a design supports business requirements
Planning skills to create a plan for small units of work and break down work into managable pieces
Understanding of relational database concepts required
