Responsibilities RBS has an opening for an experienced attorney to join its Business Services Legal Team. This team is made up of a group of attorneys and paralegals who advise RBS Americas business lines in matters relating to commercial engagements of third party service providers, with specific focus on information technology, privacy and data protection, intellectual property (including patents, trademarks and domain names), general risk management, and information security, as well as regulatory and corporate governance matters. This attorney will focus on representing internal clients within the various business lines of RBS in their dealings with third party vendors. The position will also require working on issues with and cooperating with other legal areas within RBS, both domestic and international. This attorney will be required to stay abreast of developments in the regulatory environment affecting financial services organizations, and to report on those changes to senior management. This attorney will be expected to advise senior management of risks within the RBS organization and to help devise practical solutions. Qualifications Required: J.D. degree and license to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction. At least 8 years experience within the legal department of a large financial services or other highly-regulated company, or comparable experience at a national firm where such individual has provided dedicated support to a financial services or other highly-regulated company for at least 5 years. Ability to prioritize work, effectively manage a large number of issues at one time, and interact effectively with senior management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, advanced organizational skills, and ability to work on collaborative team while also exhibiting ability to own individual projects to completion. Preferred: Knowledge of federal and state laws impacting financial services companies, especially GLBA, Dodd-Frank, Reg.
