General Statement of Duties :
The Financial Reporting Manager will manage and direct the Firm’s general ledger in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), maintain the Firm’s fiscal records, recommend and establish accounting policies and procedures, and compile cash flow projections. This position reports to and will work in collaboration with the ! Controller and will assist in the overall direction of the acc! ounting function, which includes the timely preparation and review of financial information, and the establishment and monitoring of effective internal controls to safeguard Firm assets.

Duties & Responsibilities :
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
§ Responsible for all general ledger accounting functions. This includes ensuring that all entries are correctly posted to the proper accounts and sub ledgers and reconciled to the general ledger no less than monthly, in preparation for the monthly close.
§ Develop and implement policies and procedures that ensure the Firm’s ability to monitor and report timely and accurate financial information.
§ Coordinate and execute the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes including reconciliations and financial reports.
§ Circulate all reporting on a timely basis for use by Firm management.
§ Generate and continually improve reporting to Firm managemen! t as required. Respond to management inquiries regarding financial information and performance measures as needed.
§ In collaboration with the Controller, oversee the annual external audit process which includes ensuring audit schedules are prepared and reviewed on a timely basis and the completion of the audit in a timely manner. Act as a point of contact for the independent accounting firm.
§ Work in collaboration with HR and Office Administrators regarding partner and employee reporting, FTE ratios, payroll, pension and benefits. This involves ensuring that personnel data housed in the web-based HR management system “Workday” is properly incorporated into financial and management reports.
§ Work in collaboration with the Tax Manager to ensure integration of tax and accounting records.
§ Manage daily aspects of partner accounting to include attorney performance reports, end of year compensation reports, partner distribution/payments and other facet! s of partner compensation.
§ Perform internal controls reviews and! documentation as well as business process reengineering.
§ Assist in ad hoc projects as necessary.
§ Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude.
§ Capability to interact extensively with management and others (excellent communication skills).
§ Extensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and preparation of financial statements on a cash and modified tax basis.
§ Strong hands-on accounting experience and excellent organizational skills.
§ In-depth understanding of general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounting systems. Familiarity with the law firm accounting software Aderant Expert (CMS) 7.5 desirable.

Education & Experience :
§ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent work experience required. Advanced degree (MBA) in finance preferred.
§ Must possess 4+ years of progressive financial (GAAP)/management and r! eporting experience.
§ Strong project management, verbal, and written communication skills required.
§ Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
§ Prior experience in a multi-office professional services Firm preferred.
§ Public accounting experience beneficial.
