POSITION SUMMARY:Responsible for obtaining appropriate life insurance claim documentation in order to make an appropriate and swift claim determination. Authorized payments within approval limits. Communicates in the appropriate manner with beneficiaries, attorneys, legal representatives, claimants, insurance departments, funeral homes, and other interested parties, on claim settlements, policy provisions, tax related issues, and any other inquiries requiring customized responses. Performs quality assurance on cases referred by other associates.FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Senior level subject matter expert has authority to respond independently to management, outside agencies, insurance department, internal legal department, customers, etc. â¢Develops and prepares original correspondence for multiple franchises in reply to complex or controversial issues/inquiries. Determines appropriate format (pre-formatted, original correspondence or a combination of both) for reply, and appropriate delivery method (written, fax, e-mail etcâ¦) for the recipient.Researches complex death and disability claims and authorizes payments up to approval authority limit.Identifies, initiates, and oversees investigation and case management activities on contestable, accidental death, foreign, and complex claims. Analyzes results and make determinations based on policy limits, Claims Advisory guidelines and other applicable factors. Make determination or recommendations based on approval limits and guidelines. Refers cases over approval limit to personnel with more experienced approval level.Rules on cases referred by less experienced personnel.Investigates and responds to Insurance Department, Presidential and other controlled response complaints and inquiries.Acts as the primary customer interface for problem resolution and consistent service.Partners with multiple areas to ensure successful resolution of cases and implementation of corporate and dept initiatives.Responds to inquiries from and takes necessary steps to satisfy the client, while balancing the best interests of the business and regulatory/compliance controls.Builds and maintains relationships with agents, independent brokers, third party administrators, and Corporate/Bank owned representatives by providing a high level of customer service and by facilitating resolution of special requests and escalated issues.Performs other duties as assigned or required.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:None. May quality check cases and provide guidance and training to less experienced personnel. Experienced in advanced life insurance claim functionsIntermediate knowledge and understanding of company and claim operations, life insurance products, associated state and federal regulations, and life administrative systems.5+ years of relevant insurance industry business experience preferred.Bachelors degree or equivalent business experience.FINRA Series 6 license required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire in order to retain position.Insurance Industry Designation preferred.Requires beginner to intermediate level knowledge of PC equipment and related software programs, especially word processing and excel spreadsheets.Requires exceptional written and oral communication skills.Demonstrated Key Competencies: produces results, focuses on the customer, uses sound business judgment, communicates effectively, organizational skills, detail oriented.
